Victorian High Country

Our first tour for 2024 sees us head south to take on the mighty Victorian High Country for 12 days of beautiful mountain streams and breathtaking views. This is one for the 4wd’er and about as an iconic 4WD trip as they get. Our starting point is Cooma and finishing in Wagga Wagga. Along the way we visit Davies High Plains, Davies Hut, Omeo, Moscow Hut, The legendary Dargo Hotel, Jamieson, & Mansfield. We drive Blue Rag, Billy Goat Bluff, the aptly name terrible track. And let’s not forget Craigs Hut. You have seen the movie now visit the location. Along the way we may even find the odd winery of two.

If this sound like a trip you are interested in the get in touch and we can send you further details.

This Tour is primarily run by Steve @ Brisbane Hinterland 4WD Training or Lyndon @ Decmac Offroad Training. dictate.

Simpson Tracks

New for 2025.  This one is still in final planning stages for the exact route, but, we are going to tackle some of Australia’s Iconic Desert Tracks including the QAA Line (QLD), French Line (SA), Binns Track (NT), Cordillo Downs Road, (QLD, SA), Warburton track (SA), K1 (SA), Hay River (NT), Birdsville Track (QLD, SA).

We also stop in some iconic towns such as Birdsville where you can have a cold beer in the Birdsville Hotel or sample a Curried Camel Pie at the bakery.

Nullarbor Crossing

New for 2025 is our Nullarbor Crossing. This may very well be a one-off tour as it is in homage to Bob Rogan, the original owner of this company who sadly passed away in April, 2024.

If the Nullarbor is something you’d like to do then come and join us on this 17-day tour starting at Port Augusta and finishing at Fremantle. You will get to experience pink lakes, iconic towns and roadhouses that dot the vast Great Australian Bight, some wineries and a trip to Rottnest Island.

You can then make your own way home or for a little extra, follow your guide on another adventure, finally arriving in Brisbane via the Great Central Rd and Uluru.

Great Outback Adventure

Our Great Desert Adventure is probably my favorite as we pack so much into the 21 days. Kicking off in Charleville we head to Tambo (home of Tambo Teddies), Blackall, Barcaldine, Longreach, Winton, Boulia, Tobermorey Station in the NT and onto Alice Springs for a few days. There’s a lot to see and do in and around “The Alice”.

Leaving Alice its Kings Canyon, Uluru for a few days and including a dinner in the shadow of Uluru. After Uluru we head to Lamberts Centre which is the geographical centre of Australia where we make camp for the night. In the morning, we make our way towards Mt Dare for a fuel stop, a swim at Dalhousie Springs before attaching the sand flags and making our way into the dessert for the next few days. Ahead we face over 1100 sand dunes before taking on BIG RED the biggest dune in the desert. After a little play we head into Birdsville for a Hot Shower and a warm bed. We spend a day relaxing or exploring in Birdsville and a Camel Pie of course before we start our last few days heading east with stops in Quilpie Lakes and finally Roma where we have our last night Dinner.

Savannah Way

Starting somewhere different this time, at the Iconic Charters Towers. From here it is onto Undara Lava Tubes (2 nights). We have two experiences here to enjoy during our stay. We are visiting Cobbold Gorge (2 nights), Croydon, Normanton (2 nights), Burketown, Adels Grove (2 nights), Hells Gate Roadhouse in Queensland. Once we enter the Northern Territory with our first stop is Borroloola, Lorella Springs (4 Nights), Roper Bar, Mataranka, Tennant Creek, & Barkly Homestead before heading across the border back into Queensland. Camooweal is our nights stop followed by Mt Isa, Winton, Longreach (2 nights), Tambo to stock up on your teddies and then our last night in Charleville.

This trip is epic and one suited for your Camper Trailer or offroad Caravan.

Cape York

Our annual pilgrimage to ‘The Cape’ is on. Departing Cairns, we head north through the Daintree to Cooktown, Lakefield National Park, Musgrave Roadhouse, Coen, Archer River and Weipa for a couple of nights.

In Weipa we do a sunset Harbour Cruise and spot the odd croc, a guided mine tour and relax. Leaving Weipa, we take a new track out through Stones Crossing on our way to Bramwell Station for 2 nights. Make sure to get a good rest because the next day its an early start for the Old Telegraph Track (OTT) up to and including Nolans Brook!! After Conquering the OTT it’s three relaxing nights at Punsand Bay. From our base here we visit the tip, a few old WWII plane wrecks, do the 5-beach run on the east coast and a trip out to the mouth of the Jardine River. Don’t forget a stop or two at the Croc Tent to pick up the must have “I drove the tele track” T shirt. I have one.

From Punsand we head South via the Old Moreton Telegraph Station for a night. The fun continues as we head to Chilli Beach for a night (via Frenchman’s Track if possible). It’s then a night at Musgrave Roadhouse before making our way to Chillagoe for a night and a cave tour before moving further south to Undara Lava tubes for a night and a morning tour before making our way to Charters Towers for our Last night.

A great trip with something for everyone.

Flinders Ranges

Our final tour for the year has us headed down to South Australia and the stunning Flinders Ranges. Kicking off from Charlotte Plains for our two nights and what a relaxing way to start with a soak in the Hot Artesian Waters. Our first full day on the road we head to Cameron Corner as a we make our way for a few nights at Arkaroola followed by a few more at Willow Springs, home to the Sky trek 4WD loop.

We visit Wilpena Pound before making our way to Clare and the wineries of the Clare Valley.
Leaving Clare and on our way to a night of off grid camping at Lindsay point we drop into Penfolds for a Blend your Own experience. Following on from here its two nights at Menindee Lakes then we follow the Darling River through Wilcannia and onto Trilby Station for two nights. Our second last night together sees us watch a sunset from Mt Oxley which is located on Rossmore Station and our final night is in St George where we enjoy a final dinner together.
Like all our tours it consists of a self-catered, tag a long tour. We take care of the itinerary with all accommodation being camping on a powered site where possible.
On this tour you can swag, Tent, camper trailer or your caravan. Highly recommend your van be either a semi or full offroad van or camper trailer.
