Course Overview
Our starter course is designed for those beginning their 4WD journey. It combines theory and practical driving to build skills, confidence, and a sense of adventure.

- Obstacle Negotiation & Guiding – techniques for tackling common off-road obstacles and safely guiding other drivers.

- Snatch Strap Recovery – theory and a live demonstration of safe recovery techniques.

Sand Driving Course
Course Overview
This course is all about building confidence on the beach. You’ll learn how to prepare yourself and your vehicle for sand driving, understand different sand conditions, and practice safe driving techniques in a real beach environment.
What You’ll Learn
- Vehicle Preparation – essential checks and adjustments before hitting the sand.
- Types of Sand – how different sand conditions affect driving and traction.
- Beach Hazards – identifying and avoiding common risks.
- Driving Techniques – practical tips for smooth and safe beach driving.
- Maxtrax Recovery – hands-on use of recovery boards in sand situations.
- Snatch Strap Recovery – theory and live demonstration of safe recovery methods.
Course Experience
- Finish the day with a guided tag-along drive to the top of the beach and back, putting your new skills into practice in real conditions.

Advanced Recovery Course
Course Overview
This is a 2 day/weekend course designed for drivers who head well off the beaten track into remote areas. It focuses on advanced vehicle recovery skills, with an emphasis on safe and effective winching techniques.
What You’ll Learn
- Winching Fundamentals – correct setup, safe operation, and maintenance.
- Advanced Recovery Techniques – practical methods for tackling complex recoveries.
- Winch Kit Equipment – use of straps, dampers, pulleys, tree protectors, and other essential gear.
- Remote-Area Problem Solving – assessing risks and making smart recovery decisions when you’re far from help.
Course Requirements
- Your vehicle must be fitted with, or carry, a winch and a complete winch recovery kit.

At Brisbane Hinterland 4WD Training, we believe confidence starts with knowledge.
Our Ladies “How To” Day is designed to give you practical, hands-on vehicle skills in a supportive and encouraging environment — no prior experience needed.
What You’ll Learn
- Changing a Tyre – safely and confidently replace a flat tyre.
- Tyre Pressures – how to correctly check and adjust them.
- Under the Bonnet Basics – understanding what you’re looking at.
- Fluid Checks – how to check engine oil, coolant, brake fluid, and washer fluid.
- Dashboard Warning Lights – identifying common alerts and what they mean.
- Pre-Trip Vehicle Checks – simple inspections before heading off-road or on a road trip.
- Using Vehicle Tools – safe and correct use of your car’s tools and equipment.
